Q&A with Oakley Rider Search Grand Prize MOTO Winner Adam Bestafka
Oakley:First off, what does it mean to you being chosen as an Oakley Rider Search Grand Prize Winner?
Adam: I am so excited! I think it is an honor. So many people submitted their videos and I was chosen the Grand Prize Winner! I think that is very cool.
What is the most rewarding part of being an Oakley Rider Search Grand Prize Winner?
I am so glad that I was able to share my greatest accomplishment with so many people. I worked very hard to get an AMA title and winning the Oakley Rider Search is just the icing on the cake!!
What was the hardest part about making the video that you submitted for this challenge?
The hardest part of making the video was that it was about 104 degrees at Loretta Lynn's last year. It was sooo HOT but I was determined to win and make it on the podium. Gregg at Road And Dirt probably had it worse than I did running around getting footage!!!
What advice can you give to those just starting in your sport?
I would tell kids who are just starting .. don't give up! Focus, good body position, and have fun!
How do you feel youʼve benefited from this experience?
Because of this contest, I have met a lot of cool people. Other kids emailed me through sponsorhouse. A couple of times at different tracks kids came up to me and told me that they saw me on sponsorhouse/Oakley Contest. It's fun to meet new people.
What is your next step after winning this competition?
Looking forward to the Mini o's and Gold Cup here in Florida.
Please tell everyone a goal you hope to one day achieve in your sport?
I want to go back and win another title at Loretta Lynn's. Maybe even one day I will go pro!
Please tell your fans something about yourself that you feel separates you from everyone else.
I started riding at 3 years old. Training wheels and a pacifier! I am 7 years old now and I have traveled to places I would have never gone if it was not for racing! I love to travel to different places because we all go in the camper and spend the weekends at the tracks. It's a lot of fun to ride motocross.
What is your favorite thing to do, besides riding?
Riding is my absolute favorite..but I enjoy swimming and playing Star Wars Battlefront video games.
Who is one person in your life that you feel has most inspired you in your sport?
Adam Cianciarulo - He is an awsome rider from Florida. He is an amazing rider. And he has a rig with his name on the side!
How has your riding helped you in your life?
Riding has calmed me down! I was extremeley over active when I was little. Riding has helped me concentrate and get focused.
Where is your favorite place to ride and why?
My favorite place to ride is probably at Motocross of Marion County. But my friend Steve has an awesome track at his house. I practice there sometimes. He has a 70 foot step up - I can't do 70 but I can do 35!! I can double it but not triple it!
What is your favorite band/artist to listen to?
I like Jonas Brothers and I think Usher is cool too!
If you had the choice to ride with any famous athlete who would it be? And where would you ride?
If I could ride with anyone, I think I would like to ride with Bubba Stewart! He is very cool and he lives in Florida! Maybe we could go to my friends Steve's track - Bubba would love his track. Lots of famous people go there!
If you didnʼt have the passion to ride, what other things would you pursue?
I think I would like to compete in swimming or maybe join the soccer team.
